But as he got older he started to come up to the deck and eat from my hand in a very social manner. After a little while however, he started to expect to be fed everytime he came to the back door and would accompany his visits with loud bleating.

Usefulness: A
Justin Bleeter was an excellent lawn mower.

Huggability: C
Tended to run away when approached without snacks.

Overall: B+
Petenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5044215950542318724.post-37502459864249471972013-03-18T23:09:06.297+11:002013-03-18T23:09:06.297+11:00Pet Name: a variety of yourTom/Sally/Miranda (some...Pet Name: a variety of yourTom/Sally/Miranda (sometimes 'the Goat')

Species (Breed) Rhode Island Red Chicken(s)

Appearance: A+ with mid-sized body, lustrous, soft rusty red coloured feathers, a brilliant red crest, beady yellow eyes and long yellow bandy legs.

Sociability: B these guys were always on the look out for something new, and were either at the back door pecking for scraps or company. They didn't mind coming inside for a look around or a scratch and loved it even more if we went outside to do the gardening. All three chooks were on a constant search for the juices grub on offer. Food was therefore key to how connected they would be to their human counter parts.

Usefulness: A+ They were living, breathing, feathered compost units. They also produced 3 eggs/day for 2.5 years, which is 1.5 years longer than a battery existence would have borne. They produced high grade fertiliser. They were also pest killers and kept bus and grub numbers down with their free range foraging. Unfortunately they were less useful when it came to keeping our lawn alive and in the dry months managed to decimate what grass we had left. A small price to pay really.

Huggability: C Beaks and claws are rarely huggable features, but they would come and perch, and if calmed by a scratch between the eyes they could be easily hypnotised under the arm of their captor. Alas, now they reside in the next suburb, going to pasture now that their laying days are over.

Overall: BAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12406299203207083182noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5044215950542318724.post-63518170791172195812013-03-18T17:49:37.873+11:002013-03-18T17:49:37.873+11:00Pet - Tess the dog

He can hear the birds and mice...but just can't quite put his paw on them... He's definitely got 9 lives though, having been found as a kitten in the compost heap, and once survived a trip from Melbourne to Castlemaine underneath someone's car bonnet.

Huggability: A Soft and fuzzy, he gives a good cuddle when he wants to.

Overall grade: B

Alexandranoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5044215950542318724.post-1265282511688949542013-03-16T15:11:53.959+11:002013-03-16T15:11:53.959+11:00This is fantastic.
